My Story
I am a full time teacher and Head of Department at a secondary school in Somerset. My two great passions in life lie in history and horses. I finished my degree in History from Newcastle and decided to buy Kasper. I ended up working at a hunter breakers yard for a year and then moved onto gain my Stage 1-3 and PTT at Talland. After 4 months of intense training and a new found passion for Dressage I worked as a BHSAI at Millfield before moving onto a dressage yard specialising in breeding and importing young horse from the Elite Sales. I decided to do a PGCE in History Secondary Teaching to a) Pay off my student loan and b) to enable me to invest in training and competing Kasper.
I currently have three horses who I look after on DIY livery and ride myself. This website is based on an amateur with a dream to one day turn professional but also documenting how I 'make' working and competing achievable.
Horses
Kasper
Kasper is a pure bred Friesian who I have owned since a rather unruly four and a half year old. Having successfully competed at Prix St George for the last two years he has now taken a step back and is semi-retired.
Gilly
8 Year old KWPN
I have owned Gilly since an unbacked three year old. He is just coming back into work having had a years break. His recent accomplishments are coming 5th at the BD Novice Summer Regionals (his first attempt) and being picked to ride as a guinea-pig rider for FEL List 1 Judge Andrew Gardiner at a South West BD Judges' training day. He also qualified and competed at BD Regionals at Elementary and ended last season at Medium with a healthy score of 69%.
Tinker
7 yr old TBx WB out of Catherston Liberator.
I bought Tinker as an unbroken 3 year old and have taken my time with him. As a bit of a rusty dressage rider it has taken me a bit longer to get back into the swing of things. We are currently competing ODE events at BE80 and he won he last competition on a double clear at only his third attempt at a ODE. Currently jumping British Novice BS as and when we can get out to compete.
